Jittima Sa-ngeamsunthron's solo photography show at Numthong Gallery, 12 Oct. - 12 Nov. 2013

Jittima: to "Convey the esthetic truth in front of me by the form of photographs"
Born 1970, Thailand,BFA (Photography) Faculty of Fine Art, Rangsit University 1991.    Art and photography have completely changed her life - both in terms of her thinking and the way she chooses to live her life, says Jittima.  Working as a photographer for 20 years meant she had a great deal of time on her own, and gave her opportunities to explore things around her - human beings, nature, life....

Jittima: A camera is a medium for expressing her ideas, her feelings, her soul.  An abstraction which reveals her true self always hidden in her work....

Chol Janepraphaphan, curator, on the work of Jittima and the 'World of Images'  Art and photography have completely changed her life - both in terms of her thinking and the way she chooses to live her life, says Jittima.  Working as a photographer for 20 years meant she had a great deal of time on her own, and gave her opportunities to explore things around her - human beings, nature, life.... A camera is a medium for expressing her ideas, her feelings, her soul.  An abstraction which reveals her true self is always hidden in her work....   ....'It is not an overstatement to say that this is the age when almost everything is related to photography.'

Chol: '[But] the camera has also been a problematic tool for almost a hundred years, as it is exprected to present only the truth.'
'Photography is both manipulation and phenomenon.'

Chol: 'The idea of 'aura', which was once a subject for criticism in the world photography, now seems to be
only a discourse left from panic  in the age of mechanical reproduction.
[It used to be believed] that spirits of all things would disappear  once being reproduced, and originality existed only in one place.'

'...The art of photograpphy tried to destroy this limitation [i.e the proscription against reproduction]by suggesting that reproductions arethe original in multiple pieces.'

'Apart from producing representative images, Jittima Sa-ngeamsunthron confirms that,
actually,
photo-taking is a process of collection, interpretation, and compiling elements
to create another world.'
'...Her photographs are full of wonder and empty of people at the same time...'

'[Jittima's] world can only be entered through
our imagination and her camera.' Chol J.
